What I have read from this article is that manipulation is used in our everyday lives by everyday people. From as simple as offering a sample at a supermarket to someone assisting you to takey you grosery bags to your car. Then article talks about how you can controll peole like if you was to go to the army and put on a Generals suite. You could control a whole line of men and tell them to do what ever you want them to.
